The National Gallery strives to provide visitors with the most comprehensive services possible. Guided tours by its expert staff are arranged in conjunction with every exhibition and special visits are organized for school parties. A strong programme of lectures, seminars and panels on art will be organized throughout the year, details advertised separately.
Groups of school children, of all age groups, are welcomed all workdays, by arrangement.

Adult education
The programme’s agenda presents an opportunity for guests to approach art on theoretical terms, by participation, and informally, both in and outside the museum. The department of information organizes events and programmes in connection with exhibitions, and presents round-table discussions, conferences, seminars, artist talks, lectures, lunch-time guided tours and guided tours on weekends, as well as guided tours for private groups. The programme also entails educational meetings and courses on the subject of art and specific areas of art history.

Special family programmes are advertised in connection with each exhibition.
School-groups
The Museum offers varied programmes for students in all age groups. If requested, the programme can be tailor-made in accordance with national educational directives for elementary schools and further education. Courses for teachers are also available.
International relations and professional development
The programme of the NG takes heed of the protocols of ICOM (International Committee of Museums) and the CECA (Committee of Education and Cultural Activities). One of the duties of the Museum is to offer professional council for other museums in the same field.
Nordic cooperative effort
Nordic Handscape is a project that aims to investigate and develop possibilities to convey the cultural heritage by mobile technology. The project was financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers. See also: www.nordichandscape.net
Access for all
Guided tours in sign language and interpretation are offered by arrangement. Every effort is made to accommodate individuals and groups with special needs. Access for disabled persons is excellent.
