Male figures are striking in Guðmundur´s art. The works, purchased at a solo show by the artist, include the primitive, the man with the godlike face, the philosopher, the pipe-smoker, the ungainly man, the strong worker, the caricature, the defecating man, the urinating man. In today´s feminist times, various social activities and old-fashioned ideas about masculinity are probably under attack. Guðmundur renders his snapshots in a mellow colour palette that depicts the male world in a charming light. The childlike pictorial play with collages and drawings presents narratives without contextm but entails challenging messages: as the saying goes, "children and fools tell the truth".
