Come If You Dare!

Halloween Party at Ásgrímur Jónsson's house and Halloween Movie Night at the National gallery.

Our annual Halloween party at Ásgrímur Jónsson’s house at Bergstaðastræti 74 has rightly become a fixture in the calendar as it is famous for attracting various extraordinary creatures that prowl the streets on Halloween.

We encourage all who dare to visit the artist’s old home at this time of year... The house comes to life, and many things lurk in the shadows.

The National Gallery X Bíó Paradís

Halloween Movie Night for Kids at the National Gallery of Iceland!

You are warmly invited to a frightfully fun movie night at the workshop on Fríkirkjuvegur – complete with real cinema popcorn and Halloween vibes!

In collaboration with Bíó Paradís, we’ll be showing the film Nelly Rapp: Monster Agent (2020) – a true adventure film where ghosts, vampires, and werewolves run wild! The movie is dubbed in Icelandic and is not recommended for children under years old.

We’ll press play at 7:30 PM, so be sure to arrive a bit earlier to get comfortable and grab some popcorn. For older visitors, it's a great chance to explore the anniversary exhibition: Looking Inward, Looking Outward: 140 years of the National Gallery of Iceland, which fills all the galleries.

For those looking to treat themselves, Kaktus Espressobar café (that‘s located on the first floor) will offer a special Halloween deal on soup and a glass of wine for the grown ups and hot chocolate and waffles for the kids.

Free admission for everyone in costume and all children under 18! Looking forward to seeing you!
