Program of the week
Multipolar | The National Gallery
Last Days of the Exhibition
Now is the last chance to see Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir's exhibition Margpóla at the National Gallery of Iceland.
Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir focuses her attention on the invisible forces of the Earth's magnetic field and the ever-shifting magnetic north. This fundamental force and how it shapes our environment has been of particular interest to the artist in recent years. The artist's lyrical exploration seeks to shed light on a human-centered perspective of the earthly forces that surround us.
The last day of the exhibition is Sunday, September 15, 2024.
Iron, Flax, Coal, and Chalk: New Works by Þóra Sigurðardóttir | The National Gallery
Last Days of the Exhibition
This is also the last opportunity to view the works of Þóra Sigurðardóttir at her exhibition Iron, Linen, Coal, and Chalk at the National Gallery of Iceland.
The exhibition features recent works on paper and linen canvas, as well as sculptures, all rooted in Þóra Sigurðardóttir's decades-long fascination with drawing as the starting point of artistic creation. By forming transparent layers of vertical and horizontal lines in both two and three dimensions, and then placing objects and drawings on these lines, the artist draws attention to the inherent power of the materials—linen fibers, iron, chalk, and coal—as well as to the various transparent membranes of the body.
The last day of the exhibition is Sunday, September 15, 2024.
