Embroidery Kit: Adam and Eve in Paradise, 1923 by Muggur

Stitch Joy into Christmas with Our Embroidery Kit! 🎁

This beautiful embroidery kit features an intricate detail from the artwork Adam and Eve by Guðmundur Þorsteinsson (Muggur) from 1923. Created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Muggur, one of Iceland's most beloved artists, this kit offers a unique connection to his legacy.

Muggur’s work spans a wide range of themes, from landscapes and religious motifs to folklore and fairy tales. In 1923, after being diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis, Muggur turned to light handwork and embroidered Adam and Eve in Paradise. He stitched the piece freehand, without any preliminary sketch. The artwork was purchased by the National Gallery of Iceland in 1934, ten years after the artist’s passing, becoming the first textile piece in the museum’s collection.

Designed by the National Gallery of Iceland, this exceptional embroidery kit gives you the opportunity to recreate a detail from one of Mugg's final masterpieces.

A Unique Christmas Gift 🎁
Make a statement this holiday season with jewelry by Finnur Jónsson.

Finnur Jónsson (1892–1993) was a pioneer of Icelandic visual arts, shaping the nation’s art history from the early 20th century. In 1985, to mark the centenary of the National Gallery of Iceland, Finnur and his wife, Guðný Elísdóttir, gifted the gallery over 800 of his works. Among this generous donation were silver objects, along with the tools and molds used in his gold and silversmithing.

The National Gallery of Iceland has now recreated these pieces as stunning jewelry, including this magnificent bracelet crafted from four interconnected sterling silver plates. Each plate features one of Iceland’s guardian spirits: the dragon, vulture, bull, and giant.

A truly remarkable gift for the holiday season! 🎄
