We warmly welcome families during the elementary school winter break!

21.10.2024

The National Gallery of Iceland is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. During the elementary school winter break, from October 24th to 28th, 2024, admission is free for adults accompanying children.

At the House of Collections on Hverfisgata, the exhibition Resistance invites visitors to engage with interactive art and creative play on every floor. Another exhibition, Stand Still and Turn to Stone, delves into the influence of folklore in visual art.

On October 26th at 2 PM, the children’s club Krummi will host a special session at the House of Collections, centered around Stand Still and Turn to Stone. The event features a clay workshop inspired by Ásgrímur Jónsson’s folklore illustrations, where children will hear stories of fearsome trolls and the clever kids who outwit them. Together, we'll create our own trolls that turn to stone!

At Fríkirkjuvegur, discover Looking Inward, Looking Outward: 140 Years of the National Gallery of Iceland, commemorating the 140th anniversary of the founding of the National Gallery of Iceland.

We warmly welcome you to join us!
